Hi, I am Gerry O'Reilly and I started Go Leprechaun in 2007.
I had worked for a large tree company for about 2 years prior as a marketing and sales arborist. I first got into trees when I was 17, I was a trainee high ropes instructor for the Y.M.C.A at camp Burgess on Cape Cod.
Part of running the high and low rope elements was to perform regular safety check's on all the gear including the trees themselves.
I later became the outdoor director for the ropes course which required more in depth training of the health and well being of the trees and this was my
beginning in tree pruning. I loved working in the trees and instructing groups, it was very gratifying helping people overcome their fears and watching as they were getting lowered to the ground and how satisfied they were at what they had just accomplished. It was also at this same time I found just how much I enjoyed climbing and pruning trees. Working for the Y were some of the best years of my life but it was time to push myself to the next level and I went back to Ireland to become an instructor in other activities. I always missed the U.S. so years later I returned and eventually ended up working for the largest residential tree company in the pacific northwest and one of the larger tree companies nationwide. i worked there as the marketing and sales arborist. After a short while with this company I realized having a minimum bid caused many potential customers to fall between the cracks. I found this to be more of an industry standard with the larger companies and being unable to change the policy of the company I worked for, I seen the opportunity and began my own pruning service that could help people get what they wanted without having to pay $750 or $800 or what ever that particular companies minimum happened to be.
It is not unreasonable for a company to have a minimum bid to cover travel expenses which is why we will drive to a job, and bid as low as $150. Since starting, surprisingly, most of my work comes from other companies with the tree company I used to work for as an employee being my largest customer.
I have completed hundreds of jobs and don't stop until the the customer is happy.
